Due Process!

so i have been through many applications for certain Fashion Schools and have been accepted to all so far.... yes, i am that good :-P lol. but i am still nervous because the next two schools, The Design School Southern Africa and TUT, require for me to be interviewed! now i have never been interviewed in my LIFE, so you can imagine my stress!

but, where there is bad, there is surely good! the upside to this is that i must come with a protfolio and an item i have made to show my passion... and this is where i relax! i have already sketched 80% of a line that will serve as my portfolio and i already have the perfect item to be made in mind!

i had a thousand ideas for this line, but i decided that i wanted this line to be the very definition of my label. what is this definition?

Betsuana: Bold, Classy and trendy!

so my theme for this line is: Black Gold Royale!

my focus was on black and gold clothing/dresses with a dash (very clear, bold dash) of another "royal" colour! colours that are considered "royal" colours are: Red, Royal Blue, Purple and Gold (duh!)..... so far it is Magical!

once i have made all the peices i am going to have a photoshoot and hopefully.... a fashion show....but for now, lets focus on finishing the designs and making that one item that will surely get me into the best fashion programme in Africa....... which would be Tshwane University of Technology fashion department (i know, SHOCKING!). dont believe me? google it:-)

Birth of Betsuana

Hi there

this is the first post for my new fashion blog! in this post i am basically going to tell you what i am about, what my fashion label is about, and what this blog is going to be about!

i am a young, ambitious South African female who is deeply passionate about fashion! i started designing at the age of 12, where i made my very first sketch(which was not the most pretty sight, i admit). eversince then i have continued to design different outfits and dresses, each design getting better as time goes by. over high school i have designed dresses for many of my friends, but unfortunately could not make any of them! this is when i BEGGED my parents to take me to fashion school and after all that begging came along my night classes at the Awesome Bloemfontein Fashion Academy!

However, if you have 8 hours of school, 2hours of sport, then 3 hours of fashion classes...a teenager would get drained, eventually. so i didn't complete my 2 years of fashion school as it was becoming too much for me. I didn't leave empty handed though! I left with a few skills, and to cut this rather boring story short: i can sew, and i have my own equipment to back it up:-)! yay me!

2012 marks the year where i decided to finally do SOMETHING with my life! so i created my very own Fashion label! those who know me well, know that my name for my label has changed about a thousand times over the years, lol, but finally i found one that says a lot about me and my dream! and, no joke, but i actually found this word in the Dictionary.

*incase you are interested* Bechuana is the old name for Botswana (yes, the country in Africa)! i am a Tswana, so it is a good link to my roots, and i just like the way it is pronounced! but due to the word being used for many other things, decided to change a few things here and there! so Bechuana becomes Betsuana....pronounced just like Botswana, just with an 'e' instead of an 'o'. now try and say it.....*nyhu*

okay, now that my semi-autobiography is complete, let me talk about the blog! this is going to be a blog that tracks every liitle event in my life that will contribute to the success of this label of mine! i will share all the ups, downs, and fabulosity of creating a brand in every imaginable format that exists in this technology-crazed world! pics, vids, tweets...you name it!

so stick along for the ride...this is going to be interesting!
