Spring Couture!
It is spring, it is spring and boy, oh boy, do we some fashion treats to enjoy! All the Spring 2013 Ready-to-wear fashion shows have started and I found it interesting to see what designers have in store for us fashionistas!
First I think I will start with YDE, not their fashion show, but what they have in retails stores in South Africa! Walk into any YDE store and you will be greeted by a BANG of spring coloured, light fabric stylish clothes….and breath-taking (literally) prices. If YDE prices don’t leave you hopeless, get your “spring” on! If they do, let us wait for their famous sales ;-)!
It seems that not all of the fashion designers are going the same path however! This is good, of course, because nothing is better than having variety! The path that the one half (along with YDE) has taken is to use the one set of spring colours. These colours would be pale yellows, pinks, greens, and blues. The other path that designers have taken is the use of vibrant spring colours. This would be your reds, bright yellows, royal blues, hot pinks and neon colours. We all know when such colours are involved, colour blocking is obviously there…dear me.
The always colourful and fun Betsey Johnson went for the second path, along with Michael Kors.

Joining YDE, Rodarte also decided to incorporate pales and nudes into the spring collection!
All of these beautiful laced garments br Rodarte
Then you get the genius designers who decided to be fence-sitters! Oscar de la Renta’s spring collection incorporated all spring colours to make beautiful clothing!
notice how some of his outfits below have the combination of pale and vibrant colours!!!
thanks to these designers and many more, winter will have some stiff competition in the fashion department! Fashion has greeted spring with love!
Cannot wait to see how the students here at UOVS rock spring fashion!

Print ME
Out with the plain and boring! In with the PRINT! Printed material has become the most contagious trend of 2012 (along with colour blocking)! Honestly, i am glad it is as successful as it is! There is nothing more heartbreaking than a fashionable trend that is under-appreciated! Print, luckily, will never have to deal with that kind of rejection! More and more people are rocking all types of prints that adds more flavour to their plain outfits.
The best part: there are so many prints to choose from, and so many ways to add it to your outfit! Aztec printed skirts, floral printed leggings and dresses, tribal printed tops...and many, MANY more! A trend-hating person cannot fight the urge to follow this trend and a trend-loving person is surely in heaven!
So whichever one you are, do yourself a huge favour and find your perfect printed item!
PS: do not wear more than one printed item please! unless you are 200% confident that you can pull it off, don't!
xx
