If it was ever a time to be expressive it is now, the century that grows to embrace uniqueness every single day! Just a few decades ago, conventionalism was key. Today, we want to display all the characteristics that make us unique to the world! We want to make it known that we are irreplaceable! It is the rage to be unique now, because the world is more accepting of it now! Naturally this acceptance came due to the courage of a few! Celebrities such as Beyonce, Tyra Banks, Kim Kardashian and Salma Hayek make “bootylicious” ladies more comfortable in their curves. Lady Gaga, Nicky Minaj and Rihanna continue to bend and break fashion rules, letting woman wear whatever they want! Countless of today’s celebrities are being praised for the “new” idea of being different and loving it.
However, the individual who is properly educated would know that we are giving credit where credit is NOT due! Sure most of today’s celebrities come out and give everybody the courage to be different and weird, but what about the group of stars who have repeatedly challenged the image perceptions of the world? What about Rock Stars? Yes, ROCK STARS.
Now this has absolutely nothing to do with you like/dislike of the rock music genre. I am talking about the singers behind this genre. Have you looked at rock stars, like properly look at them? What do you see? There is obviously a lot to see! Most of them dress weirdly, they talk weirdly, and they sing weirdly...they are just weird. What strikes me as fascinating is this utterly true unappreciated fact: they do not care about the world’s opinion of them. They do not care! Since rock music and rock stars originated in the 1950s they did not care, and they still do not care! You see rockers like Steven Tyler being interviewed or performing and you just suddenly feel the urge to be different! You look at Lenny Kravitz wearing leather boot-pants and you think “wow, he is crazy” and yet, you love it! You witness the concrete wall of confidence each and every rock star has and you immediately aspire to have that wall too. Why give today’s celebrities the credit when rock stars have been preaching, “BE YOU!” since the 1950s?
I respect them! I love them, simply because they stand for individualism....and because rock music is awesome, lol!
xx
