FINALLY, I got my mannequin! YAY ME!!!! To understand the depth of my happiness, let me explain the story! I first heard saw this little baby when I was in Durban (epic time, btw) and I was in awe! It is a dressmaker mannequin that assists designers with fittings. So instead of meeting up with your client to do fittings, you adjust this little baby to the size of your client and VOOLA! Heavenly creation!
ANYWAY, couldn’t buy it in Durban as I was broke. Bummer. But I kept the mannequin in my thoughts! For months and months searched for a reasonably priced one until, finally, I found one! AND, as you can see, it is red! I simply LOVE red! It is such a sexy colour! Is it not a beauty? Hehe
Then came along project “trash”! I had to make a dress out of trash as part of a recycle theme for a girl, and now my mannequin’s first “outfit” ended up being trash. My poor Diana! Yes, I named it Diana, but that is also the name of the brand that manufactured it so it seemed fitting. Not to mention the fact that it has a name-tag-looking sticker on it written ‘Diana’J .
Funny enough I am also happy this was the Diana’s first outfit, because it was quite fun making it, Lol! This mark the first time I have ever made a dress out of anything that is not fabric! There was a lot of complications surprisingly and therefore, a lot of cursing from my end, but the job was done. I even made two! Check these two beautiful ladies rocking them out…
…Might be trash, but sure looked classy!
xx
